The Monument Independent is an independent, reader-supported local news publication and a locally owned Colorado LLC. Contributions — one-time or recurring — fund our reporting on Monument, Palmer Lake and the Tri-Lakes. This policy explains how contributions, cancellations, and refunds work.

Contributions are voluntary support

When you contribute, you are supporting our journalism — you are not purchasing a physical product, and nothing is shipped. Because The Monument Independent is an LLC rather than a nonprofit, contributions are not tax-deductible.

Recurring contributions (monthly and annual)

If you set up a monthly or annual contribution, it renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and cancellation stops all future charges. To cancel, sign in to your account and manage your contribution, or contact us and we’ll take care of it for you. Cancelling stops future payments; it does not by itself refund payments already made, though you are always welcome to request a refund (see below).

Refunds

We want you to feel good about supporting local news. If you were charged in error, charged more than once, entered the wrong amount, or simply change your mind, contact us within 30 days of the charge and we will issue a full refund — no hassle. Refunds are returned to the original payment method and typically appear within 5–10 business days.

How to reach us

For any cancellation or refund request, please use our Contact page. We read every message and aim to respond within two business days.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page.
