The Flourish Collective has gathered ten independent practitioners who care for women, babies and families into one building on Washington Street. A family can see a nurse-midwife, a pelvic-floor therapist, a psychiatric nurse practitioner and a pediatric chiropractor at the same address, and the practitioners know one another by name.

Aleta Wagner opened her first practice because of her own body. An occupational therapist and mother of three who has hiked 18 of Colorado’s fourteeners, she started Mountain Mama Pelvic Health after pelvic-floor trouble of her own sent her, as she writes on its website, on “a deep dive of education and movement.” Her second venture grew out of something she kept seeing in the first. Families, she wrote in an announcement sent to The Independent, are often passed from one provider to the next, piecing together answers to problems that cross from hormones to feeding to postpartum recovery.
The Flourish Collective, at 267 Washington Street, is her answer. It held a soft opening on July 16 and has been fully open since Aug. 1. Ten practitioners belong to it, a group Wagner describes as carefully selected, and nine of them see clients in the building; several also see clients by telehealth. Each runs an independent practice and licenses space under the collective’s roof. Its motto is the old proverb, finished: “It takes a village. We built one.”
The building is a single-story stucco one with stone pillars at the door. Inside, the practitioners’ rooms open off a long hallway under a pair of iron chandeliers. The floors are bamboo, and the finishing touches on the decor are still going up, Wagner says.

Who practices there
Between them, the members cover a family from pregnancy through the teenage years, and the parents into menopause.

The arrangement is meant to be more than a shared lease. The members have set up referral partnerships with one another, work together on discount offers and meet as a collective about once a month, Wagner says.
Classes and gatherings
The collective has recently opened the building to classes and workshops, and it is inviting community partners to use the space as well. Pelvic-floor workshops, lactation and early-feeding workshops, bodywork and movement sessions and women’s health education are all in the plans. Each provider sets the price, and some sessions will be free.
Wagner already teaches pelvic-floor classes for mothers’ groups, gyms and studios, according to her practice’s event listings. The members also host events together in the space; the next is downtown Monument’s safe trick-or-treat on Halloween.
It takes a village, the proverb says. On Washington Street the village keeps office hours, and it is still taking new members.
