The Black Forest Arts & Crafts Guild opens its annual fall show at the Black Forest Community Center on Wednesday, Nov. 4, and runs it through Sunday, Nov. 8. Members sell their own work, from quilts and pottery to jams and jellies.

The Black Forest Arts & Crafts Guild holds two shows a year, in the spring and the fall. This fall’s show is open Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.; Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to the guild’s website. It is held, as every year, at the Black Forest Community Center, 12530 Black Forest Road, the log hall of the Black Forest Community Club at the corner of Shoup Road.

The guild sets the show up like a single store. Members’ work is grouped by kind, with the pottery together, the paintings together and the baby and children’s items together, and shoppers pay at one central checkout. “This is not your average craft show,” the guild’s membership page says.

Every seller is a guild member, and membership is open to residents within the guild’s Black Forest boundaries. The guild lists quilts and afghans, baby items, paintings, pottery, jewelry, woodworking, stained glass, dolls, stitchery, note cards, baked goods, jams and jellies, and candles among its members’ work. Its online artist directory adds rock cairns, terrariums and handmade soap.

The guild was established in 1965 and says it is the longest continuously running craft guild west of the Mississippi River. Members, other residents and shoppers at its two shows fund a scholarship, created in 2006, for a graduating senior who lives in the 80908 or 80831 ZIP code. The 2025 award was $2,000.

The guild also collects non-perishable food at the show for Black Forest area food pantries. All five days are on the Independent’s community calendar.
