The Tri-Lakes Women’s Club opens five professionally decorated homes for its sixth annual Joys of the Season Holiday Home Tour on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20 and 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The club says every dollar the tour raises goes to its community grants.

Every visitor to the Tri-Lakes Women’s Club tour starts at the Hospitality House, at the Woodmoor Community Center, known as the Woodmoor Barn, 1691 Woodmoor Drive. It is open both days from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Visitors pick up a printed ticket and a guidebook there; the guide carries each home’s address, photo and description, and the club does not publish the addresses in advance. Visitors can then see the homes in any order, on either day.

Tickets are $30 and are sold online and at the Hospitality House, which takes cash and cards. A ticket is good on both days but admits its holder once to each home. The online checkout suggests an optional contribution to the payment platform; the club notes it can be set to $0. Tickets are non-refundable. A buyer who cannot attend can ask the club for a charitable donation receipt for tax purposes.

Four designers decorated this year’s five homes, according to the tour’s website. Jenny Lee Designs, an interior design studio and shop at 125 Second Street in downtown Monument, decorated two. “Pour the Wine, It’s Christmas Time” is a modern custom home in golds, silvers, navy and emerald with a 1,200-bottle rotating wine cellar at its heart; “Merry & Magical: A Christmas in the Pines” is a 5,000-square-foot single-level home with a Colorado-themed playroom for children. Jenn Campo of The Simple Sort, a Colorado Springs home organizing and closet design company, took the colors for “Heirloom Southern Country” from the homeowner’s pottery collection. Donise Newkirk, a retired floral and event designer, filled “Christmas in the Woods” with old-world Santas, antiques and family heirlooms. Kimberly Potter of The Wherever Home Interiors, back for a second year, modeled “Après Ski Noel” on a European ski chalet.

The Hospitality House also holds the club’s holiday gift shop, free Starbucks coffee and a gift basket raffle. This year’s stock includes wooden snowmen, gnomes and trees; 36-inch wooden snowman and reindeer “leaners” made by club members; goat milk soaps from Riverglen’s Secret Soapery, made by Monument artisan and club member Erin Contreras; and recycled broken-glass art by local artist Christel Dietzius.

The club’s guidelines for the homes are specific. Shoe coverings are provided and required at each door. Photography, video, food and drink are not allowed inside, and the homes’ bathrooms are closed to visitors; the Hospitality House has public restrooms. Parking is on the street and some walking is required. The homes may have stairs, and the club does not guarantee they are accessible. The club recommends carpooling and does not recommend the tour for children under 13. Every visitor, children included, needs a ticket.

The Tri-Lakes Women’s Club is an all-volunteer nonprofit founded in 1973 with more than 200 members, and it says it has given more than $1 million in grants to local nonprofits, public service agencies and schools. The tour’s sponsorship page says more than $100,000 has been granted “in just 5 years.” Recent recipients listed on the tour’s site range from senior services to school programs, parks and the Monument and Palmer Lake fire and police departments.
