In the count so far, the two candidates whose campaigns leaned most heavily on development-industry money — Ryan Graham in District 1 and Lauren Nelson in District 5 — led the Republican primaries; Yolanda Avila led the District 5 Democratic race. The count is now essentially final
Update, July 9: With the July 8 signature-cure deadline now passed, El Paso County has posted its near-final unofficial count. The last batch added only a few hundred votes to each race and changed no standings or margins. These are, for practical purposes, the final results — barring minor adjustments when the county certifies the primary later this month:
- District 1 Republican: Ryan Graham wins the nomination over Lindsay Moore, ~63%–37%.
- District 5 Republican: Lauren Nelson wins over Vickie Tonkins, ~62%–38%.
- District 5 Democratic: Yolanda Avila wins over Christian Seale, ~70%–30%.
- District 1 Democratic: Gavin Rainey, unopposed.
Essentially no ballots remain to be counted. The winners advance to the November general election.
